Leaders often ask what makes a Girl Scout troop different from other recreational groups that a girl could join. The answer is that in Girl Scouting, girls are given the opportunity to make decisions, to help plan activities, to explore new areas of interest, either independently or with the group, and to be given opportunities to grow in self-confidence and self-empowerment. A Girl Scout troop is a very special place to be, allowing girls to spread their wings in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
